Day 22, Sunday, July 15, 2007

Not much to talk about today. The weather started out sunny and clear and we went into Acadia to hike. Got a short hike along the coast around Sand Beach and Thunder Hole before the clouds and rain rolled in.

We checked out some of the other RV parks in the area in case we return some day. We found some less expensive, but none better than where we are now.

Cadillac Mountain, the highest point on the East Coast, is in Acadia. It is the first point light hits in the US as the sun comes up. Last year, Maine fishermen caught 55,000,000 pounds of lobster. There are about 600 of them and each is allowed a maximum of 800 traps. Lobster meat, out of shell, sells for $45/lb. A whole lobster (1-1/4 lb avg) sells for about $8.95/lb live and $9.95 cooked. A lobster dinner for two here at the campground (to go) costs $42.95 (includes corn on the cob and cole slaw).

Clouds and fog rolling in

The immovable meets the unstoppable

Sand Beach, one of a very few places on this coast with sand and not rocks for a beach
